There is something beautifully patient about raising a child in faith. You rarely see the harvest the same season you plant the seed. You read the same Bible story for the hundredth time, say the same bedtime prayer, model forgiveness after another long day, and wonder if any of it is truly taking root. Proverbs 22:6 reminds us that the training we offer in these small, repeated moments is not wasted labor.
This promise is not a guarantee that every child will walk a straight line, but it is an invitation to trust the process God has designed. Children are watching how we handle disappointment, how we treat strangers, how we return again and again to grace when we fail. The way we point them is the way their hearts learn to lean, even when they wander for a season before coming home.
You may not be raising children yourself, but you are shaping someone: a niece, a student, a young coworker, a neighbor's kid who lingers at your fence. Every kind word, every honest example, every patient answer is a seed planted in soil you cannot fully see. Trust that the God who began this good work in them is faithful to finish it, in His timing, not yours.
