Let the Dough Rise While You Sleep

Saturday morning, and the kitchen light is soft before anyone else stirs. Somewhere dough is resting under a towel, doing its quiet work without your help. Sit with your coffee a minute — some things are not meant to be forced.

This morning's prayer
Lord, I bring you what I've been kneading with worry — the job, the child, the diagnosis, the bill. I lay it on the counter and step back. You said if I commit my way to you and trust, you would bring it to pass. So here it is, all of it, out of my grip and into your hands. Forgive me for punching it down again and again, trying to make it rise on my own timeline. Give me the patience of a baker who trusts the yeast, the warmth, the waiting. Do your quiet work in me today. Amen.
