Light Enough For The Next Step

"Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path."
— Psalm 119:105 (KJV)

God's word doesn't flood our whole future with light all at once. It shines just enough for the step we're on, the decision in front of us, the conversation waiting this afternoon. That can feel like too little when we want to see ten years down the road, but it's exactly the mercy we need for today.

Think of walking a dark trail with a small lantern. You can't see the mountain peak or the valley beyond, but you can see the very next rock, the very next turn. That's how Scripture guides us — verse by verse, moment by moment, giving us just enough clarity to keep moving faithfully rather than standing frozen in fear of the unknown.

So if today feels foggy, if the path ahead is unclear, take heart. You don't need to see the whole way. You only need enough light for the step in front of you, and God has promised exactly that. Open his word, ask him to speak, and trust that the next step will become clear when it's time to take it. He has never once left his people to wander in the dark without a way forward.
