The dishes are done or they aren't, and either way the kitchen will be there in the morning. Set down the mental list — the email you forgot, the conversation you replayed three times — and let it fall like a coat off tired shoulders. The house is settling, the night is quiet, and nothing on that list is yours to carry past this pillow.
"He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber. Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep." — Psalm 121:3-4 (KJV)
Tonight's prayer Lord, I'm here. Eyes heavy, heart a little worn from the hours. Thank You that You don't hand the night watch over to anyone else — You keep it Yourself, wide awake, steady. While I drift off, You'll be watching the door, watching my children breathe, watching the road outside go quiet. I don't have to solve anything before morning. I don't have to hold myself together in the dark. You don't nod off. You don't miss a thing. That is almost too good to take in. So I'm just going to rest in it. Thank You, Father — for this bed, this night, and a Keeper who never sleeps.
Blessing for your rest May the God who watched over Israel through every wilderness night now watch over your roof, your rooms, and every sleeping soul beneath it. Rest well — you are held.
