The dishes can sit in the sink till morning. The phone can stay dark on the nightstand, its notifications unanswered till the sun comes up. Whatever you didn't finish today — the email, the errand, the hard conversation — set it down now, like a stone you've carried long enough.
"Truly my soul waiteth upon God: from him cometh my salvation." — Psalm 62:1 (KJV)
Tonight's prayer Lord, my soul waits for you tonight, the way a tired child waits to be carried the last few steps home. I don't have to solve anything else today. You are my salvation, not my striving. Still my racing thoughts. Slow my breathing. Let the ache in my shoulders loosen and the worry in my chest unclench. Remind me that you were awake before I was born and you'll be awake long after I fall asleep. Thank you for this bed, this roof, this breath, this quiet room. Thank you for being enough. Amen.
Blessing for your rest May your soul settle like a lamp turned low, and may this house rest safe under God's watching kindness till morning light finds you smiling. Sleep well, dear friend — you are held.
