Coffee's still too hot to drink and the house is quiet except for the hum of the fridge. Monday has arrived whether you asked for it or not, carrying its own bright edge of sunlight through the blinds. Sit here a minute before the rushing starts.
"This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it." — Psalm 118:24 (KJV)
This morning's prayer Lord, You made this Monday and You didn't make it by accident. I don't always feel like rejoicing before my feet hit the floor, but You've commanded gladness anyway, so I choose it now. Thank You for breath in my lungs and light through my window. Take my tight shoulders, my rehearsed worries, my mental list of everything undone. Loosen my grip. Let me notice small good things today — a kind word, a bird on the fence, a task finished well. Where the news is heavy, give comfort to those who ache, and give me a heart that carries hope, not fear. This is Your day. I'm glad to be in it. Amen.
