Tuesday morning smells like coffee and cut grass through the screen door. The kettle ticks, the dog stretches, and somewhere a bird is already singing before anyone told it to. Come sit here a minute before the day gets loud.
"My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up." — Psalm 5:3 (KJV)
This morning's prayer Lord, before my feet hit the floor, hear my voice. I am not waiting until noon or evening to speak with you. This is the hour I choose. Take these first words, plain as they are, and shape them into prayer. I lift my eyes now, not down at my worries, not sideways at other people's burdens, but up to you. Steady my thoughts. Clear the fog. Whatever this Tuesday holds, let me carry it with my face turned toward you, expecting good, trusting your kindness, ready to notice you working in ordinary hours. Amen.
