The kettle clicks off and the house is still half asleep. Somewhere outside your window a road is waiting, one you haven't walked yet. Stand at the door a moment before you open it.
"Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest." — Joshua 1:9 (KJV)
This morning's prayer Lord, I don't know what this day holds, but You already do. You told Joshua to be strong before the walls fell, before the river parted, before he saw one step of the way. Give me that same kind of courage now — not because I feel brave, but because You are already standing in the places I'm afraid to go. Steady my hands. Quiet the voice that says I'll be dismayed. Remind me that wherever this day sends me, You went there first and You are not leaving. Walk with me plainly, Lord, through ordinary hours. Amen.
