Let the desk stay cluttered and the phone stay dark on the nightstand. The dishes can wait till morning light, and so can the email you meant to send. Breathe out the noise of traffic and hurry — it has no claim on this room tonight.
"And thou shalt be secure, because there is hope; yea, thou shalt dig about thee, and thou shalt take thy rest in safety." — Job 11:18 (KJV)
Tonight's prayer Father, I set down this day the way a farmer sets down his tools at dusk. The digging is done for now. You told Job that hope makes a man secure, that he can dig in and rest without looking over his shoulder. So I plant my hope in You tonight — not in what I finished, not in what I fear tomorrow, but in You alone. Cover this house like good soil covers a seed. Thank You for a bed, for breath, for another day of Your patience with me. I sleep now, grateful and unafraid.
Blessing for your rest May hope dig deep beneath you tonight, holding this house steady while you and yours sleep without worry. Rest now — the ground is sure, and so is He.
