The dishwasher hums its last cycle and the phone finally goes dark on the nightstand. Somewhere a to-do list sits half-finished — the email unanswered, the load of laundry still warm in the dryer — and none of it needs you right now. The day can lie down when you do.
"He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters." — Psalm 23:2 (KJV)
Tonight's prayer Lord, You led me somewhere green today, even when I didn't notice the grass under my feet. Thank You for slowing my steps, for water that doesn't rush, for a place to lie down without watching over my shoulder. I let go of the noise now — the traffic, the meetings, the small frustrations that felt so loud at three in the afternoon. Settle my thoughts the way You settle a flock at dusk. Thank You for this bed, this roof, this breath still coming easy in my chest. I fall asleep grateful, Shepherd, simply grateful.
Blessing for your rest Sleep now in the soft grass of His care, and let still water be the last sound you hear. Goodnight — may your house rest easy under a good Shepherd's watch.
