The dishes can wait until morning, and so can that email still sitting unanswered in your drafts. Let the phone go dark on the nightstand. Whatever the day demanded of you, it's finished now — set it down like a coat by the door.
"I laid me down and slept; I awaked; for the LORD sustained me." — Psalm 3:5 (KJV)
Tonight's prayer Lord, I lay myself down tonight the way a child leans into a father's arms — no fear in it, only trust. You have never once let morning fail to come. You held my breath steady while I slept unaware, unguarded, unafraid. Keep me through these dark hours, and when my eyes open again, let it be to your mercy, new and unearned. Thank you for strength I didn't have to manufacture, for rest that isn't mine to guarantee but yours to give. I fall asleep grateful, Lord — sustained by you before I even knew I needed it.
Blessing for your rest Sleep deep tonight, friend — you and everyone under your roof are held by hands that never grow tired. Wake tomorrow to find His mercy already waiting, fresh as the light in your window.
