The House Is Quiet, the Door Is Locked

🕊 Let Providence read it to you

The dishes wait in the sink and the porch light is on. Your phone is charging in the other room, its notifications finally still. Whatever didn't get finished today can stay unfinished — the list will keep till morning.

"I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety."
— Psalm 4:8 (KJV)
Tonight's prayer
Lord, I lay this body down and let my eyes close. You never told me to guard the night — that's Your work, not mine. So I hand You the locked door, the sleeping street, the whole dark hour by hour until light comes again. I don't have to check anything twice tonight; You already have. Thank You for this bed, this roof, this breath still moving in and out of me. Thank You for a whole day lived, and for sleep now, sweet and unearned, simply given. I rest in that. Amen.
Blessing for your rest
May your sleep be deep and your dreams be kind, and may this whole house rest tonight under a peace it didn't have to earn. Goodnight, dear one — the Lord has the watch.

Have Providence read you to sleep
