The alarm is set, the dishes are still in the sink, and somewhere on your phone a list waits with three things undone. Let it wait. You did not build today by muscle alone, and you don't have to buy tonight's rest with more striving — it's already yours for the taking.
"It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: for so he giveth his beloved sleep." — Psalm 127:2 (KJV)
Tonight's prayer Father, my hands are tired from reaching and my mind is tired from planning. Thank You that You never asked me to earn this rest — You simply give it, the way You give breath and morning light. I set down the hours I couldn't finish and the worries I couldn't solve. Let my body go loose, let my thoughts go quiet, let sleep come easy and deep. I don't have to hold the world up tonight; You already do. Thank You for a bed to lie in, breath in my lungs, and a love that never clocks out. Goodnight, Lord — and thank You.
Blessing for your rest May your house grow still, your shoulders grow soft, and sleep find you before your worries do. Goodnight, beloved — rest well, for He is not tired, and He is not far.
