Sleep Without Flinching, Beloved One

🕊 Let Providence read it to you

Let the dishes wait in the sink and the phone go dark on the nightstand. The email you didn't answer, the argument that replayed all afternoon — set it down like a coat by the door. Your body knows how to rest even when your mind keeps arguing that it shouldn't.

"Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day."
— Psalm 91:5 (KJV)
Tonight's prayer
Father, I'm tired in the good way now, the kind that means the day is finished. You said I don't have to flinch at what the dark might hold or brace for trouble that hasn't come. So I'm loosening my grip tonight — on the schedule, the worry, the version of tomorrow I keep rehearsing. Cover this room. Cover the people sleeping near me and the ones far off I love. Let my breathing slow the way a candle settles into stillness. Thank You for this ordinary, unremarkable, safe night. It's a gift I didn't earn and won't take for granted. Amen.
Blessing for your rest
Go to sleep unguarded, dear one — no fear gets the last word under this roof tonight. May your house stay quiet, your breathing stay even, and morning find you rested and loved.

Have Providence read you to sleep
