Let the dishes wait in the sink and the phone go dark on the nightstand. The day's arguments, the half-finished email, the errand you forgot — none of it needs you anymore tonight. Breathe out. The list will still be there tomorrow, but you don't have to carry it to bed.
"I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety." — Psalm 4:8 (KJV)
Tonight's prayer Lord, I lay myself down now, arms loose, jaw unclenched. You are the only one who can make a heart truly safe, and tonight I let you do that instead of doing it myself. Quiet my racing thoughts. Steady my breathing. I don't need to guard anything while you're awake. Let sleep come easy and deep, and let me wake rested, ready for whatever gladness you have waiting. Thank you for this bed, this roof, this ordinary safety I so often forget to notice. Thank you for being the kind of God who lets me rest. Amen.
Blessing for your rest Sleep now, safe in hands stronger than your worry — and may your whole house rest tonight under that same quiet watch. Goodnight, beloved. Morning joy is already on its way.
