Put the pen down on that half-finished list. The dishes can wait until the sun says otherwise, and the emails will still be there, unread, unbothered by your rest. You have carried enough today — let your shoulders remember they are allowed to drop.
"It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: for so he giveth his beloved sleep." — Psalm 127:2 (KJV)
Tonight's prayer Lord, I have measured my worth in hours awake, in bread I baked myself out of worry. Tonight I lay that down. You said sleep is a gift to those you love, not a wage I earn by staying upright longer than my strength allows. Quiet my hands. Quiet the running math behind my eyes. I don't have to hold the night together — You already do. Thank You for this bed, this breath, this permission to simply stop. Thank You for loving me enough to make me rest. Amen.
Blessing for your rest May you sleep tonight like someone who no longer has to prove anything, wrapped in a rest you didn't earn but were freely given. Peace to this house, and peace to you, until morning finds you unafraid.
