Somewhere between the porch light and the coffee pot, God is already glad about you. He isn't waiting to see how today turns out. He's humming over you right now, the way a father hums over a sleeping child.

This morning's prayer Lord, I wake to news I did not ask for and a heart still tender from yesterday. Remind me You are near, not far off watching, but right here in the room with me. You are strong enough to carry what I cannot. You do not sigh over me — You sing. Let that sound settle the noise in my chest. Quiet my worry with Your delight. Let me walk today as someone who is loved before she has done anything to earn it. Rest me in that love now, and steady my steps through whatever this day brings. Amen.
